Most Distichodus species grow to large for home aquariums. The size is relative, some are capable of reaching 8 inches in length. This fish, found in the lower congo river drainage, is fairly docile and can be kept in small groups of three or four, although plans to house them should be well in place before you go down this route.

What's the tank size that you want to shoot for when you want to keep Distichodus? I'm considering getting 3-4 of them but I feel like my tank is too small. I'm willing to get a bigger one though.
