Reptiles to Snakes

Postby SusieP » 16 Dec 2013, 15:00

Hello,

What type of snake would be best for some one wants to switch from keeping lizards to snakes?
I have kept lizards for 4 years now and am thinking about getting snakes, even with a reptile background my knowledge of snakes is very limited. Need guidance please! :?

Many Thanks

Get a Ball Python. Great first time snakes and easy to care for. For a healthy snake go to a breeder. As far as there habitat goes, cedar chips, a hide, and a water dish big enough for them to curl up in. Also add some leaves and climbing sticks.

Corn snakes or rosy boas are great starters. You can spend anywhere from 40-400$ on a set up. Snakes don't need the UV light like lizards do, so you can keep them in a rubber maid type tote (clear) with a firmly attached lid and a heat mat.

Hope this was helpful!

If your looking for something really small (under 3 foot), a Kenyan Sand Boa is brill! :)
